2 Cups Flour
2 Cups Sugar
1 teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Butter Softened
1/4 Cup Cocoa
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup Buttermilk
1 Cup Hot Water
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 Tablespoon Vinegar
Frosting:
Ingredients
1/2 Cup Butter, softened
6 Tablespoons Milk
1/4 Cup Cocoa
3 3/4 Cups Powered Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Instructions:
1. Mix together flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl and set aside
2. In a saucepan, add water, cocoa & butter. Stir until butter melts and the mixture comes to a boil. Pour over dry ingredients and stir
3. Add in Eggs, Buttermilk, baking soda, vanilla, and vinegar. Mix to combine
4. Pour into a greased 15x10x1 pan (sheet pan)
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes
Frosting Instructions:
1. Mix Butter, Milk, and Cocoa together
2. Add Powdered Sugar & Vanilla
3. Beat Well and spread on a hot cake as it comes out of the oven.
Notes:
1. Use a plastic disposable knife to cut the cake into pieces. Using the plastic knife helps you get a nice, clean cut, and the frosting doesn't build up on the knife.
2. Add Chopped Nuts to the top if desired
3. Both my Mom and my husband's Mom would make this cake for family get-togethers.
